A young half-Apache man named Edgar Mint tells his life story, in which he is run over by a car at the age of seven, suffers a stint in a boarding school for Native American orphans, and is placed in the home of a dysfunctional Mormon foster family.

Edgar Presley Mint, an orphaned Apache boy, finds himself bouncing from foster home to foster home, where he has many larger-than-life experiences.

Golden Richards, a polygamist Mormon with four wives and twenty-eight children, is building a brothel in Nevada, telling his wives it is a senior center; but his desire for a young woman on the construction site, the increasing burden of his large family, and his son's sinister plot against him contributes to his ever-increasing anxiety.
