The Reillys return home from a summer weekend to the loft in Tribeca they are in the agonizing process of renovating and expanding. They are looking forward to a quiet supper on their newly acquired rooftop terrace. But it's not meant to be. A blackout hits New York, and the Reillys are called into action. As head of the NYPD Major Case Squad, Jack has to handle a burglary at a new SoHo gallery. Regan's best friend, Kit, is worried about Georgina, a disturbed colleague seeking revenge against young blond men. Meanwhile, actress Lorraine Lily has also come back to the city, to find her estranged husband has sold their loft to the Reillys. What's hidden in the loft's closet safe could ruin her career. Regan and Jack have yet to discover the safe, but a further person--a nervous thief--has already intruded on the Reilly's home.
