The weight of the stars

Ryann Bird lives in a trailer park, on the wrong side of town, meaning a career in space is an impossibility for her--so, Ryann settles into her circumstances and begins acting delinquently with her friends. One day, though, she meets Alexandria, a girl with a broken arm whose mother volunteered for a mission to the far edge of the solar system--a one-way trip. Alexandria at first refuses Ryann's offer of friendship, but slowly Ryann helps Alexandria get to the roof of her house to catch her mother's daily radio signals, and friendship, and perhaps something more, begins to blossom.
