Five families become entangled in events from the beginning of the twentieth century, following as thirteen-year-old Billy begins working in the Welsh mining pits, an American law student gets a job with Woodrow Wilson's administration, two orphaned brothers try to leave their native Russia for the U.S., and Billy's sister's employer begins an affair with a spy at the German embassy in London.

Analyzes many problems and issues that will occupy the world in the future, including population growth, energy, food, health, environment, terrorism, nuclear weapons, and communications.

Examines the effectiveness of present gun control laws and raises questions of future problems. (50 min.).

In v.11 (1976-1990) prominent individuals including Henry Winkler, Peter Jennings, and Brooke Shields relate their memories of the Iran hostage crisis, the death of John Lennon, & the Challenger disaster. In v.12 (scrapbook of the century) Tom Brokaw, Howard Cosell, Wynton Marsalis & others share their remembrances of the end of Communism, extraterrestrials, and AIDS.

In v.9 (1968-1969) prominent individuals including Frank Zappa, Jesse Jackson, and David Halberstam relate their memories of Woodstock, the first man on the moon, & the assassination of Martin Luther King. In v.10 (1970-1976) Betty Ford, Norman Lear, Diane Sawyer & others remember Kent State, Watergate, and Roe vs. Wade.

In v.7 (1961-1963) prominent individuals including Dan Rather, John Glenn, and Tom Brokaw relate their memories of the Kennedy assassination, Marilyn Monroe & the Cuban Missile Crisis. In v.8 (1963-1968) Joan Baez, Ralph Nader, Harry Belafonte & others remember the Beatles, the civil rights movement, and Vietnam.

In v.5 (1952-1955) prominent individuals including Rob Reiner, Neil Simon, Mike Wallace relate their memories of the golden age of TV, Hollywood blacklisting, & Brown vs. Board of Education. In v.6 (1956-1961) Oprah Winfrey, Dick Clark & others remember the early days of rock & roll, the space race and the birth control pill.

In v.3 (1940-1945) prominent individuals including Neil Simon, Phil Donahue, and Dan Rather relate memories of movie stars, Hitler, and the atom bomb. In v.4 (1945-1952) Milton Berle, James Garner, Mickey Mantle & others remember the "baby boom", early television, and the Korean War.

In v.1 (1901-1929) prominent individuals including Hugh Downs, Douglas Fairbanks, and Everett Koop relate their memories of WWI, the Roaring Twenties, and Prohibition. In v.2 (1930-1939) Steve Allen, William Buckley, & others remember the early days of radio, big bands, and the Depression.
