Over 400,000 people were sealed off from the outside world and forced to live under terrible conditions which included a severe shortage of food. Among them was a 47-year-old Jewish teacher who kept a record of events. Part of Abraham Lewin's diary, covering the period from April 1942 to January 1943, was found hidden in a milk churn after the war and published. This book is that partial diary.
