He had given $25,000 in savings to charity , abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter....

The author relates his experience of climbing Mount Everest during its deadliest season and examines what it is about the mountain that makes people willingly subject themselves to such risk, hardship, and expense.

This movie attempts to re-create the disastrous events that took place during the Mount Everest climb on May 10, 1996.
