Juno Marlowe, a young woman in World War II London, finds shelter during an air raid in Evelyn's home, an ill and wealthy man who asks her to deliver a letter to his father, Robert. Evelyn dies shortly after, and Juno delivers the letter to Robert--and finds herself deeply attracted to him.
