Dori Kat is a Jewish Holocaust survivor who thought that her lost memories of her childood years in Belgium were irrecoverable. But after a chance viewing of a documentary about hidden children in German-occupied Belgium, she realized that she might, in fact, be able to unearth those years.

This is a story of a group of resistance workers who secreted downed Allied fighter pilots through France and into safety in Spain during World War II.

Contains ninety-two haiku on a variety of topics, presented in English and Latin, and illustrated with calligraphic drawings.

The author reconstructs the story of her Holocaust childhood through letters, documents, and diary entries, telling of her family's flight from Germany to Belgium after Hitler came to power, and discussing the sacrifice her parents made to keep her safe.
