Tommy Flood has been turned into a vampire by his girlfriend, Jody. Their relationship is strained as they try to cope with the change, and other vampires are angry Tommy and Jody are vampires at all. They are forced to flee Elijah and his minions, as well as Tommy's former friends, the vampire hunting "Animals.".

New to San Francisco, nineteen-year-old Tommy is turned into a vampire by his sarcastic and sexy girlfriend, Jody, and the pair are hunted by Elijah, the elder who turned Jody, and the Animals, the stock boys with whom Tommy used to hang, who have deemed themselves vampire hunters.
