Provides an analysis of the Gettysburg Address given by President Abraham Lincoln as part of a dedication ceremony for Civil War dead, and provides background on slavery, Lincoln's presidency, the Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg, and the cemetery and consecration ceremony.

Reprints the inaugural speech of President John F. Kennedy in January 1961, and chronicles the events in his life leading up to his election as well as major events in history during his short administration.
