Everly Lederer and K.C. Stites, growing up in the privileged American enclave where employees of the United Fruit Company live outside Havana, Cuba, in the 1950s, bear witness to the philandering and backstabbing that go on inside their gated community, while in the city, Rachel, a cabaret dancer, and French agitator Christian de La Maziere get caught up in the political underground, bracing for the changes to come.
