To distance themselves from the debate over their future, Max and the Flock join a scientific expedition to the Antarctic, but the expedition is a trap for the super-human kids, set by an undeworld figure who has promised to deliver them to the highest bidder.

Having narrowly escaped the Erasers in New York City, the flock heads to Washington, D.C., to try to find out more about themselves. After they are approached and offered sanctuary by the FBI, they try going to school and living normal lives, but the Erasers catch up with them and send them on the run again.

Max and her flock escape the school after recovering Angel, who shares what she has learned about their true identities, but Erasers follow them to New York, where Max ponders her destiny.

The Flock members try to live normal lives by going to school and making friends while they search for their parents, but when the Erasers return the group must escape again and Max finds that her destiny is to save the world.
