For years the Garde have fought the Mogadorians in secret, but now the invasion has begun. If the Garde can't find a way to stop the Mogs, humanity will suffer the same fate as the Lorien: annihilation. John Smith--who is Number Four--teams up with Number Six and learns more about the fate of his home planet, Lorien, after it was attacked by the Mogadorians, and tries to reconcile the stress of knowing that the fates of Lorien and Earth are tied to his success.
