The Ward is a futuristic New York City with streets filled with sea water and its poverty-stricken inhabitants suffering from a deadly disease called The Blight. Ren has discovered miraculous spring water that cures The Blight and when she is able to cure her sister, she faces more trouble when Governor Voss kidnaps Aven and an ancient order called the T?tai are determined to protect the healing water that the city needs to survive.

Set in a futuristic Manhattan after a catastrophic flood called the Wash Out, Ren must race against a conspiracy to find freshwater springs and a cure for the deadly disease that has stricken her sister and many others in the Ward.
