During Hanukkah two children help a Holocaust survivor to once again embrace his religious traditions.

Eighteen-year-old Victoria Jones, having been emancipated from the foster care system and planted a flower garden in the park in which she slept, is hired to work for a local florist, and, after meeting a mysterious vendor at the flower market, she is forced to confront her past and decide what she wants for her future.

Delphinium "Del" Bloom is happiest away from the chaos caused by her three sisters at home and at her grandparent's flower shop, but when Del's grandparents decide to move, they give control of the shop to Del's parents and Del scrambles to keep order when a very particular bride patrons the shop for her wedding.

Del is sure her family's flower shop is floundering because of the new florist that opened across town, and when she learns the owner's son is Hamilton, the cute new boy in her class, Del vows to keep the family business afloat and get Hamilton to ask her to the dance.

Del Bloom's excitement over her thirteenth birthday is tempered by her ex-best friend Ashley's plans for an elaborate party to which Del is not only not invited, but must help plan when Ashley chooses the Blooms flower shop to provide decorations.
