Finn McCool, the fourteen-foot-tall son of a Giant and a mortal woman, calms down after a wild youth spent seeking revenge against the Frost Giants who killed his father and settles with his wife, Oonagh, on a hill known as Knockmany, but when Ireland and Britain become overrun by mortal men who kidnap Oonagh, Finn rallies the Giants to bring her back.
