Alex as well / Brugman, Alyssa

Alex has somewhat of a split personality, one which thinks she is a girl, the other which thinks he's a boy. Slowly, painfully, the girl-persona wins out. Alex changes schools, gets new clothes, and tries to deal with the fallout of her parents' and friends' confusion. However, the other Alex is still alive and well, making his or her decisions that much harder.

Raised as a boy, fourteen-year-old Alex, who has male and female sexual body parts, rejects the hormonal medications prescribed by his mother and decides to live as a girl.
