Seventeen-year-old Jacob, a member of a Grace--an insular Christian cult in Montana--begins to question his faith when a number of tragedies befall the members of Grace and he meets a girl from the outside world who shows him another way of life.
During an eventful year for the Christian cult where he has grown up, seventeen-year-old Jacob finds his faith and devotion tested when he meets new friends from the outside world and encounters temptations that threaten his contentment.
While dutifully patrolling inside his isolated religious community's fence, Jacob meets Lynna, who lives on the other side - a very different world from Nodd.
