Del is home for Lief, Barda, and Jasmine, but it has changed while they have been away fighting dragons. Despite new dangers and fears, the three cannot leave for in the Shadowlands, the Shadow Lord waits to bring them to a terrifying end because they have killed three of the Four Sisters.

The Four Sisters, evil creations of the Shadow Lord, are poisoning Deltora and starving its' people. Lief, Barda, and Jasmine have found and destroyed the first of the Sisters. Now they must find the second, hidden within the mountains that border the Shadowlands. And they know that only the Dragon of the Emerald can help them. The Shadow Lord is now aware of their quest. Deep in the Shadowlands, he plots their destruction. Hidden enemies and trickery await as the companions travel towards the Sister of the North and its terrible guardian in the dread place called Shadowgate.

Lief, Barda, Jasmine and Deltora's last dragons are on another quest to save the kingdom's starving people.

The evil Shadow Lord has been banished, but famine still stalks Deltora, and only monsters thrive.

While playing a computer game, Patrick is transported to a parallel world and invited to participate in a game show in which he must find three lost items to win several fabulous prizes.
