Tells the story of Japanese American children who corresponded with their librarian, Clara Breed, while they were imprisoned in World War II internment camps for three years.

In the late 1800s, many librarians did not allow children to touch books or bring them home, since "they would surely forget to bring them back." Anne Carroll Moore disagreed, and essentially invented the children's library.
