The Song family travels to Tharsis City--the jewel of Mars civilization--for supplies. Young Belle is excited to see the sights of the city, but is unprepared for the danger that lurks in the city streets.

In 2335 the most precious resource on Mars is water, and Water Raiders are attacking farm communities and stealing the water. With very little help coming from the authorities in Tharsis City, Belle Song, her parents, and their friends from the neighboring farms join together to defeat the Raiders and protect their farms.

When Belle Song accidentally discovers a rare and highly valuable mineral deposit near Mount Olympus on Mars, a huge mining company moves in to claim rights. But to mine the land, they put Mars' water supply at risk. Soon, protesters and company officials clash, and Belle and her friends learn about the complexities of protecting the environment.

Now in seventh grade Belle Song has settled into her life on Mars; she has a new baby sister, her android Melody, her wolfdog Raider, and her friends, the human Lucas, and the Nabian, Taal--but when she and Taal uncover some ancient ruins which the Nabians claim are a sacred site, Belle finds herself plunged into a tricky world of extraterrestrial politics and religion that threatens her relationship with Taal.

Fourteen-year-old Belle Song investigates what she thinks is a meteor that has crashed near her family's Martian farm, and discovers two alien refugees fleeing a civil war. The aliens can shape-shift, and the Martians are suspicious of them; but Belle decides to do whatever she can to protect the alien refugees.

Twelve-year-old Belle Song finds it hard to adapt when she and her parents move to Mars and begin farming, but soon new friends introduce her to all the red planet has to offer.

Twelve-year-old Belle Song and her family moved to Mars because they were offered good jobs, only to find that the jobs have disappeared--her father, Yun, is unwilling to return to the worn-out Earth, so, to the horror of his city-raised daughter, he buys a farm in the "Wild West" area of Mars, and Belle does her best to adapt to a life which is filled with difficulties and danger.
