Shizu and her mother have reconnected and Shizu is more confident than ever. But then she meets the living daughter of one of the ghosts living inside her, and realizes the cost of having these spirits. Knowing that she may lose them, Shizu becomes lonely, but learns that there's much to gain in letting go.

Shizu's father threatens to isolate her in a hospital so she and Tetsu make the rash decision to run away. But the two have no place to go, and when the Karasawa's family drama catches up to them, a former enemy may become Shizu's best advocate.

After Shizu helps Tetsu achieve success in the soccer match, rekindling his love of the game, things begin to change for Tetsu. But then a secret from Chihiro threatens to tear the friends apart.

Shizu spends more time out of doors, experiencing much of the world she's never known. She expresses and interest in going to school, so Tetsu and the spirits within Shizu come up with a plan. But once there, she is introduced to Tetsu's old soccer team, which throws his relationship with Shizu into chaos.
