In the summer of 1943, Frangie, Rainy, and Rio are fiercely fighting their own personal battles while battling Nazi Germany. They have learned what they are willing to do as women to save themselves and each other, and the consequences of their actions. Now they and their fellow female soldiers are heading to the front lines on the Italian isle of Sicily, to fight alongside male soldiers in an endless siege. They face bigotry, anti-Semitism, and horrible conditions, while coming face to face with the brutality of war.
