Kale, a slave girl, finds a dragon's egg and is sent off by the village elders to present herself and egg to the great wizards of the walled city, but her journey is fraught with danger as she finds more dragon eggs, some of them hatch, and she becomes the target of an evil wizard who wants to harness her talent for finding eggs for himself.
