Raiga?s party works to subdue a Lagiacrus when a Rathalos suddenly appears. Meanwhile, Keres reunites with Raiga after two years apart.

Muriel has become Keres apprentice. She has lots to learn about being a Hunter, but she also must learn about Keres' background and why he wanted to become a Hunter in the first place. Meanwhile, Raiga continues to test himself, but he may be losing sight of other important things in his life--like his friends.

Having gone with Torche to the village where he was born, Raiga spots a phantasmal Elder Dragon, a Kirin, and decides to hunt it to get his mojo back. However, the Waldbrand Guild has already taken the contract to hunt it. They agree to give Raiga the contract on the condition that one of his best friends joins their guild.

The Hunters in Pokke Village have staved off the latest threat, but many are injured, one is missing, and no one feels like celebrating. Raiga has discovered how unskilled he is and so loses his sense of purpose--to help him regain his sense of purpose, Torche invites him to travel with her to the village where he grew up.

Bexel defeats a monstrous Khezu, seemingly settling the mountain disturbance, but then another terrifying creature appears. Raiga and his companions go to the hunting ground, leaving Pokke Village underprotected when two Blangonga monsters arrive.

Having defeated terrible monsters and gained amazing skills, Raiga has become a champion Monster Hunter. Approached by a mysterious old man, Raiga goes to investigate Pokke Village and discovers that the very Hunter who inspired him to join the Monster Hunters is there waiting for him.

Raiga, Keres, and Torche have to learn to work together if they want any hope of again facing and this time overcoming the dragon-like Qurupeco. However, before they can fully defeat Qurupeco, a Rathian, a gigantic beast called "Queen of the Land," blocks the sun from them.

Raiga and his team rush to aid Bexel when they hear that the Elder Dragon Ceadeus is attacking Moga Village for their final battle.

In a world where land, sea, and sky are dominated by monsters, humanity lives on the fringes of existence, protected only by the Monster Hunters. Raiga and his comrades have become expert hunters by now on the path of the Monster Hunters, and they will need all the skills they have honed to fight the dragon-like Qurupeco.
