Huckleberry Finn is not too happy about being taken from his no-good father and sent to a stuffy old widow to be "civilized." But when his father steals him back, it's even worse. Huck soon escapes and joins up with Jim, a runaway slave, on an adventure-filled raft ride down the great Mississippi River.

Huck, in flight from his murderous father, and Jim, in flight from slavery, pilot their raft down the Mississippi River in search of freedom.
