Junior high drama

Kamilla has a wonderful singing voice, but she does not want to sign up for the Memorial Middle School musical because she sees herself as overweight, even though the doctor tells her she is not; so can exercise and the support of her family and friends help her overcome her negative image and lead her to the starring role her talent demands?.

Allie is a star on the track team at Memorial Middle School, but when she passes out at a local track meet, she is diagnosed with diabetes, and afraid of what the other kids will think, she tries to keep it a secret--a plan that backfires when her furtive and erratic behavior leads to rumors that she is on drugs, or worse.

Lilly desperately wants to be one of the "cool girls" at Memorial Middle School, so she is thrilled to be invited to Tania's birthday party; but Tania is actually interested in Lilly's older brother, Hank, and when that does not work out she turns on Lilly, bullying her and making her life miserable--until a suggestion from her favorite teacher, and a campaign against bullying, provides Lilly with a connection to other victims in her school and an outlet for her emotions.

Most of the sixth graders at Memorial Middle School are all a-flutter about the beginning-of-the-school-year, boy-girl party, but not Lucia, who is put off by all the talk about what to wear, and who to date; however, when she gets to know Adesh (the boy who sits on her favorite bench in the park), she starts thinking that there might be something to this dating thing after all.
