A graphic novel about the daily life of a Aya, a nineteen-year-old girl living in Yopougon on Africa's Ivory Coast in 1978, her two best friends Adjoua and Bintou, and their meddling relatives and neighbors.

Follows a mischevious West African girl named Akissi as she tries to retrieve a stolen fish from a neighborhood cat, defends her little monkey, Boubou, from becoming someone's dinner, and pesters her big brother, Fofana.

In the late 1970s on the Ivory Coast, a group of young woman learn to rely on one another to deal with life's changes, including Adjoua, who does not know for sure who is the father of her baby, Bintou, who is falling in love with a sneaky man, and Aya, who feels as if her friend may be taking advantage of her helpfulness.
