Liv, the only "normal" girl in Gloomsdale, is spending the evening at Vera's house with their friend Howl, the werewolf, when her vampire friend loses one of her fangs--and picture day at school is coming up.

Sixth-grader Sebastian Wight is cursed with the ability to see the dead, but now a nasty spirit, the shadowman, is determined to claim him for the dead--and this brings him to Gallowgate Academy for ?theric Arts, where he can learn to control his abilties.
