Kingdom of bones

When the pirate king dies, the Bone Crown Trials, a competition to determine the next ruler of the seas, begins. Three strangers named Csilla Abado, Kane Blackwater, and Lorelei Penny soon find themselves caught up in a deadly battle for the throne. Csilla dreams of becoming the first pirate queen, Kane is looking for a chance to save his father's ship, the "Iron Jewel," and Lorelei has stowed away on the "Iron Jewel" looking for her mother's killer. But these three realize they stand a stronger chance together and form a tentative alliance.

Now that Csilla Abado is the first Queen of Bones, she is tasked with mending the crack between Limbo and the mortal realm before more otherworldly creatures pass through it. But when Lorelei and Nara go missing, Csilla sets sail once more to locate her friends. Kane Blackwater tracks the traitorous Dominic Rove to Death's Cove, but things take a dark turn when a magic-laced injury spreads an unknown evil through his veins. Lorelei Storm hasn't been the same since her return from the realm of Limbo, and when she runs away from Csilla and the others, she is captured by an Incendian Scout. Soon, the war between gods and mortals reaches a breaking point, and no one will ever be the same.
