Joe the barbarian

When he is home alone during a power outage and his sugar level drops dangerously, Joe, an eleven-year-old Type 1 diabetic, imagines he is a lost survivor and his house is a world filled with submarine pirate dwarves, evil Hell Hounds, Lightning Lords, and besieged castles as he struggles to reach the sugar that will save his life.
