Experts in the field of Modern design know that the Metropolitan Museum's collections are exceptional and wide-ranging, but this fact is little known to the general public, since the holdings are virtually unpublished and rarely on view. For this handsomely produced book, the Museum's former curator of the twentieth-century design and architecture collection has selected more than 125 masterworks, which have been especially photographed by a leading photographer in settings appropriate to their period and design.
