Television journalist Gracie Logan, having filmed a spectacular sphere of light in the Antarctic which brought on a global debate over what it was, teams up with ex-convict Matt Sherwood, who is trying to uncover the truth about the death of his brother, in an effort to determine if the light was a sign from God, a hoax, or something else.
