Former astronaut Scott Blackstone, director of NASA's Citizen Observer program, finds himself vilified after a Space Shuttle accident claims the life of a famous sports figure; but his concerns take a backseat when Pakistan deploys a nuclear device endangering the lives of the crew of the International Space Station, and Scott, along with his brother Nick, an aerospace researcher, hold the key to their rescue.
