Safe in heaven dead

Union negotiator Robert Elgin, overwhelmed by the corruption he sees on the job, the molestation of his young daughter by a twelve-year-old neighbor, and his wife's resulting alienation, steals his bosses' illegal slush fund and hits the road, winding up in New York where he meets a high-priced call girl who is also ready to change her life.
