She weeps each time you're born

Rabbit, a Vietnam girl, is born during the height of the Vietnam War. When her village is destroyed, she is taken away by a makeshift family brought together by the war. She grows up and develops inexplicable intuition, as others see it--in reality, her ability is to hear the voices of the dead. Through her ability, the history of the war and its effects on her world are seen in a new light.
