Lady Kiera Darby is in Scotland in 1831. After a tumultuous courtship she is thrilled to have found an investigative partner and a fiance in Sebastian Gage. When she is commissioned to paint the portrait of Lady Drummond, Kiera sees the sadness in her eyes. And then one day she finds Lady Drummond on the floor. The doctor and Lord Drummond appear satisfied that her death is natural. But Kiera is not so sure---she suspects poison. But can she prove it and not imperil her own life?.
