Forensic anthropologist Tempe Brennan digs up the grave of a nun who may qualify for sainthood in Montreal but finds they have been moved and tampered with, and when she makes a connection between an arson and a disappearance, she begins investigating a suspicious cult in a journey that takes her to her to the Carolinas and then back to Canada.
