When Lucie Tang Churchill attends her cousin's wedding on the posh island of Capri, she meets handsome, rich surfer George Zao. While both have Chinese heritage, Lucie is determined to believe they have nothing else in common, especially not the undeniable chemistry she feels with him. They meet up again years later in New York, when Lucie is engaged to another man. The old feelings she had for him rush in, and Lucie does everything she can to deny that they are real, failing miserably.
