Rivka's presents

In 1918 New York City, Rivka's immigrant father falls ill from the flu and she must delay going to school while her mother works. But Rivka is eager to learn, and she trades odd jobs with local shop owners and neighbors so that she can learn her letters, numbers, and American history.
