Freelance book editor Jessica Reid lives in small-town Redford, Georgia with her father and likes the steady pace of life there. When the town's benefactor, Jasper Wilhelm, dies, residents are thrown into a state of upheaval when they're paired off to compete in a series of competitions for his fortune. It's there that Jess meets Japser's grandson, Carter Barclay, an Atlanta financier who is among the contestants. While the two develop an attraction to each other, they are both set on winning his millions and staying in the towns where they live, which could end their relationship before it has a chance to develop into something more.
