For several decades, China has been torn apart by civil war, as feudal lords and power-hungry tyrants vied control of the Han Dynasty. What began as a conflict between eighteen lords and became a battle between three kings now rests in the hands of a new generation, who must finish their ancestors work if China is to be a unified nation once more.

The rivalry among Bei Liu, Cao Cao, and Quan Sun has been the defining struggle of the era of the three kingdoms. But two of the men are dead, and the era of the three kingdoms is drawing to a close. Now, Liang Zhuge, who was the architect of Bei Liu's ascent to power, must engage in almost constant battle and forge unpopular alliances if he is to preserve the legacy of his former master.

After ten years of traveling, San Zang and his disciples reach the sacred mountain of West Heaven to take possession of the Mahayan Sutras. Their journey home is still before them, however, and the Goddess of Mercy may have more lessons to teach them.

As San Zang and his disciples enter India and approach the end of their journey, they encounter villains, and they must all draw upon everything they have learned in their travels to survive.

As they enter a land ruled by three monster kings, San Zang has a horrible premonition. Each of the kings has a great strength and a great weakness and resembles one of the disciples. If Wu Kong, Bajie, and Wu Jing do not heed this warning, the entire journey may be in jeopardy.
