When her class at Trident Academy visits a pod of whales, Kiki Coral must overcome her fears with the help of her friends.

When a shark is spotted in Trident City, third-grade mergirl Pearl is terrified. Then to make matters worse, Pearl's special necklace goes missing. Pearl accuses another mergirl, Kiki, of stealing her necklace and says mean things about Kiki to get her in trouble. Only when Pearl has a dangerous encounter with a shark, does she see the value of her friend.
