After retirement from the military, he became passionate about the idea of a national monument to honor them. Thanks to his efforts, the U.S. Military Working Dog Teams National Monument has been built at Lackland Air Force Base, where all of America's military dog teams are trained.

Story of Ben Cai Lam, who served in the 101st Airborne Division from 1965-1971, even though he was not an American citizen. He was eventually captured by the North Vietmanese and was sent to a "re-education camp". Also tells of his escape and his many unsucessful and successful attempts to flee Vietnam after the war.
