Mrs. Green has organized a class election and instructed everyone to run for something, but Hubey finds himself running for president against Doris, who has bought out the entire class with ice cream.

The students must deal with a scary bus driver named Mr. Fenderbender, mosquitoes as large as Dracula, and their mean teacher, Mrs. Green, on their class trip to the Black Lagoon.

Hubie's dog, Tailspin, has always been a loyal companion. But how did they first meet? When Hubie's mom finally says that he can get a puppy, Hubie has some big decisions to make. There are so many different kinds of dogs to choose from! Luckily, Tailspin, makes the choice easy.

Hubie hears about a new kid at school named Butch Pounder, who is supposed to be a bully, and visualizes a variety of horrible rumors, concocting different ways to defend himself.

The kids are nervous about performing in front of the whole school in the talent show, but once they get on stage they realize how much fun it is and how good they are.

With Halloween approaching, Hubie makes his costume, talks his mom into letting him watch a horror movie, learns about the history of the holiday, and goes trick-or-treating with his friends.

Hubie's class is doing a secret Santa this year for Christmas. Everyone picks a name and gets a gift for that person. But Hubie doesn't know what to buy anyone else, especially if he picks a girl. Giving presents shouldn't be so hard!.
