Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her singing talent that leaves her sick and drained at the end of each performance, so her mother sends her to a French boarding school conviced that creative direction will cure her. Rune recognizes something otherworldly when she sees a masked boy in the graveyard. She also befriends Thorn, who dresses in nineteenth century clothing. Thorn can cure Rune, but at what expense?.

Sent to the Roseblood Conservatory to study voice, Rune German develops a friendship with Thorn, a mysterious masked boy, but Thorn is torn between his feelings for Rune and his loyalty to his father, the Phantom, who haunts Roseblood and has sinister plans for Rune.
