Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker, married for three years, are given an opportunity to test the strength of their relationship when they are assigned, along with a varied group of diplomats and factions, to travel to Nirauan to investigate the remains of Outbound Flight, a pioneering Jedi expedition destroyed fifty years earlier by Thrawn, a disciple of Emperor Palpatine.
