The Abhorsen chronicles

Contains "Sabriel" in which Sabriel, daughter of the necromancer Abhorsen, must journey into the mysterious and magical Old Kingdom to rescue her father from the Land of the Dead; "Lirael" in which Lirael and Prince Sameth are drawn into a battle to save the Old Kingdom and reveal their true destinies; and "Abhorsen" in which Lirael is abruptly transformed into the Abhorsen-in-Waiting--a future guardian of the border between life and death--and immediately finds the fate of all life in her hands.
