John Reddy Heart, a young man who, since rolling into town behind the wheel of a salmon-colored Cadillac at the age of eleven, has stolen the hearts of Willowsville's teenage girls, earned the worship of its boys, and the envy of its men, attains the status of a myth when he becomes the object of a statewide manhunt.
