Narcissus and Goldmund

Goldmund, a creative young man fascinated by one of his teachers, Narcissus, a disciplined, scholarly monk, leaves the cloister at Narcissus's urging and embarks on a quest to resolve the pleasures of the flesh with the needs of the spirit, and come to terms with the childhood loss of his mother.
